Trade-Ins For Troops, Brought To You By Hardcore Christan Gamer Podcast

The Geek Media is proud to support HCG and Trade-Ins For Troops.

The mission of Trade-Ins For Troops is to support those men and women serving our country in foreign locales with morale boosting entertainment.

As gamers-we know the need for some gaming relief during the stressful times in life and who better to support than those who are experiencing some of the most stress that they have ever experienced.

All it takes is ONE GAME to show your support to our men and women. Instead of taking your older game to trade towards a new one, now you can donate your game to our American troops.

The donation focus is mostly on handheld titles, however any console or PC title is welcomed and appreciated.

Gibson Hate’s HipHop

[Rob's Opinion] As some may know, I am not a fan of hip-hop.  It’s just not my style of music, unlike electronica and it’s various forms, however this story caught me because I do like music and musicians in general, no matter the genre.

Posted over at QN5.com, the story talks about a hip-hop artist that goes by the name of Tonedeff (the post in question is also written by him).  Tonedeff took part in a competition at Lollapalooza 2006 called ‘Last Band Standing’.  In addition to the grand prize was $10,000 worth of equipment of his choice from the Gibson catalog.  Gibson, however, did not come through on their end of the deal and appears to have done many things to bypass the deal.

Here is a quote from Tonedeff’s post…

“But then he [Don Pitts, Entertainment Liason for GIBSON Guitars] starts making statements that bug me. He tells me, “I mean, this is kind of weird, because you know, you DON’T play the guitar or drums.” This definitely rubbed me the wrong way, because I already felt as though he was being unnecessarily difficult to contact and somewhat curt on the phone. So, from that statement, I guess I could gather, that there are some reservations on the Gibson side as to whether they need to accommodate ‘a rapper’ with their gear. “
