Happy Birthday WoWHead!
I was going over to WoWHead for the first of many times today as I normally do, and I noticed they had the little birthday skin up on their front page. WoWHead’s a fantastic resource, originally starting with the very basic talent calculator that was so popular (even Blizzard changed theirs to a very similar style, and still are that way to this day) in December of 2005, and evolved into the full out website in late June of 2006. Happy Birthday WoWHead!
Crytek CEO Estimates 20 PC Game Pirates for every 1 Legitimate PC Gamer
[Source: ShackNews]
ShackNews is reporting that Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek, estimated that PC gaming piracy currently could potentially be around 15:1 to 20:1. Thats 15 to 20 PC game pirates for every 1 legitimate PC gamer.
“It’s crazy how the ratio between sales to piracy is probably 1 to 15 to 1 to 20 right now,” Yerli told IGN. “For one sale there are 15 to 20 pirates and pirate versions, and that’s a big shame for the PC industry.”
Yerli added that he hoped to see some change with the release of Crytek’s upcoming shooter follow-up Crysis Warhead. When asked if the game would include anti-piracy measures similar to Electronic Arts’ activation protocols in the PC edition of BioWare’s Mass Effect, the CEO didn’t directly specify but hinted at some new ideas.
“Effectively, if the game isn’t an online game or multiplayer game—there are challenges regardless of what you do—the game can be cracked. The effort is to make it more difficult to crack, and certainly we’re going to make it more difficult this time with Warhead.”

Curse Gaming to have Live Streams from WWI Paris
Curse, widely known as one of the best online MMO resources, will have two different live streams from the Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals in Paris, starting tommorow morning at 6:45 AM EDT. The times on their page are all in Paris’ time, so to get the EDT calculation, just subtract 5 hours. After going over the schedule for their feeds, it’s impossible to tell when specificly the game announcement will take place, one can only assume it’ll be on the main floor feed, though, not on the tournament feed. You can read more on this as well as watch the feeds right here:
Bored At Work Take 2
Once again, Candace shows you what to do while stuck in that cubicle or at that desk. Today is Friday which means we are all looking to just relax. This jewel of a flash game brings back some serious nostalgia for those of you in my generation.
I give to you Lemmings . Yes, just like the computer game we spent hours with. Point, click and solve the puzzle to make your Lemmings get home safely. With all of the advanced games out there today, you might think Lemmings doesn’t have the same pull it used to have. Not at all. If I weren’t working, I’d still spend hours on this game doing the same thing I did quite a few years ago.
Enjoy!

Bored and at Work…
Many of us gamer types get very bored while we are at the office. Most of us find fun flash games to play, read blogs and surf sites. I usually wait for Twitter to update in order to find something interesting from someone I follow. No matter what you do, there’s always something to find on the web for a working gamer.
Allow me to introduce you to this gem. Dragon Fable . This has been my latest addiction while at work. It’s a flash based RPG with elements of D&D and most medieval based games. The best part is, the creators aren’t afraid to throw in jokes like making fun of internet memes and gamers themselves.
Dragon Fable is free to play. Premium content is available for a small subscription price every month. You can choose your class and, character gender plus the RPG elements help you move through the game and determine what you are doing. It’s very much a point and click type of adventure that will definitely take up your time while you are bored and wanting to indulge in super geekery while working!

Moonlight Pictures leaves Veoh due to recent changes.
I, Moonlight Pictures have officially begun the process of switching our server to a new video host due to the recent restrictions with Veoh - for not only are they preventing viewers for visiting the site in some 85% of the world - but they are hindering the potential views to my site/short films and future productions.
Below is what I posted in the forums.
Hello Veoh,
While I have no direct affiliation to Veoh other then being a user or am not being blocked by Veoh’s ridiculous new policy on foreign views - but for those who are being blocked, I’m so sorry.
Myself, I run an independent distributing site and have been using Veoh as a quick and easy way to distribute short films across the internet. And me personally, I feel like their “About Me” is misleading.
“What is Veoh?
Veoh is a revolutionary Internet TV service that gives viewers the power to easily discover, watch, and personalize their online viewing experience.
With a simple broadband connection Veoh gives you free access to all of the great TV and film studio content, independent productions, and user-generated videos on the Web. From hit CBS, NBC, FOX and Comedy Central shows to your favorite YouTube clips, Veoh turns the vast universe of Internet video into an easy-to-use, high-quality, personalized experience that TV fans everywhere can enjoy.”
When I read this, I assume that the short films or my future features/series will and can be viewed by EVERYONE on the “vast universe of Internet”. But after learning about this new restriction - and how it took customer service almost a MONTH to respond to a issue I emailed them about (myspace/motionbox/vimeo all tested recently have taken at the most 24 hours), I’m official switching providers.
Doesn’t make much of a difference for how many people are here on the site. But I suggest that the people that are upset with this, and find that Veoh pretty much ignores requests, suggestions, and finds their customer service pitiful, then take action and switch.
I have stayed this long because of Veoh options, but I’m willing to sacrifice a little by switching to Vimeo which has treated me like a paid member (which I’m not). I’m officially boycotting Veoh.com!
Goodbye Veoh
Best of luck with your false advertisement!
It also took them nearly a month to respond to a customer service complaint I posted to them. I’m switching to Vimeo - the process should take about a month or so to complete due to Vimeo’s weekly upload limits, but it will be worth it.
And this conversion I believe will solve Rob from waiting patiently for Veoh to fix many of its API problems.
