Veronica Belmont for President, 2008

It would appear that Veronica Belmont, co-host of Tekzilla on Revision3 has quite the fan-base pushing for her to run for president.

From belmont08.com,

Bowing to the constant politcal pressure on the Internet, Veronica Belmont declared freedom from the bickering stating, “I’ll stab my eye out with a fork!”. This was a clear call the likes of which have not been heard since the third delay of Spore.

Those in the know understood her words meant she would challenge the field for the Presidency of the United States in 2008. While Belmont is not above the minimum age of 35, she hopes to have a constitutional ammendment fast-tracked by November to allow her election to stand.

But what exactly are people saying about her policies and personality?

Bipartisanship
” She also wanted to buy a puppy, so she like dogs too! ”

Service
“Don’t forget her extensive CoD military career, and she spent quite a while fighting for the freedom of Azeroth from that evil Alliance.”

Experience
“Her extensive executive leadership in Buzztown, Mahalo-land and Tekzilla Nation are unparalelled.”

The biggest question on everyone’s mind, however, is who will Veronica pick as her VP.  I may be “playing favorites” here, but I think the image you will see after clicking the link below explains it all.

Let Me Clarify… - 8.30.2008

Okay, so I’d like to acknowledge the comments made on my “WAR Is Good, WoW Is Better” post. Trust me, I am aware that it is IMPOSSIBLE to review an MMO after only a few hours of play. The earlier blog post was supposed to really be a “first impression” from what I had experienced and a full review would come later when I could actually get the time to play. I thought that by saying I only played for a few hours, it would imply that I wasn’t doing a full review, but I guess I should have made that more clear. I apologize to anyone who may have been offended when seeing that post as a full review. -Matt Graham

zintin

Image via CrunchBase , source unknown zintin , on the iPhone Appstore, oh what a fun and interesting piece of world connectiveness ye are. With the exception of the 12 year olds constantly asking for, and posting mature content, you are quite an interesting take on the social networking genre. A good take in my opinion, on this ever so missing in quantity field (sarcasm much?) and the only thing I honestly feel is missing is the ability to add a friend without having to share your contact details. Start it up, set your name and status, and your browsing a list of people in the nearby area. Bored? Tap on someone and you can view their “wall,” a place where you can scribble something, post a picture or leave a note. Like a picture already on there? Tap it, hit options and choose to add it to your own wall. Someone put something on your wall you don’t like, or you feel may be illegal, delete it or report it right from your own wall. Wanna get to know someone better beyond their wall on zintin ? Offer to exchange your contact details. I haven’t had a chance to test this out yet, but so far no one has really piqued my interest in the past week on there to exchange with. There is even and option to filter out mature content, and when you post a picture, you’re asked if it’s mature or not, thank you very much for this addition. You honestly have no idea how many times I’ve given up on various crap over the years because of the 12 year olds constantly saying derogatory terms, or posting the same old Playboy pictures I’ve seen since the 60’s. There are also “City Walls” based on the ip address (wifi connection,) or triangulation of your cell towers for where ever you are. Travel around and leave your permanent mark on a virtual graffiti quest to tag the whole world. My opinion? Go out on your iPhone ’s and download zintin now, if you’re in the Louisville Ky area, find me and strike up a conversation, names Teh James in Tha Ville. Just don’t expect me to send you pictures of my wonderous vacation to the 7th moon of Saturn .

Steve Racer is in the new Star Trek film

Steve Weese Star Trek

That’s right, Steve got to be a blue shirt Enterprise crewman for the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek. Paramount has him under a strict non-disclosure about details, so you’ll have to wait - except for the few things mentioned in his Hollywood blog. Check the blog for details: Steve in Hollywood.

Facebook Redesign Optional No More

Image representing Facebook as depicted in Cru...Image via CrunchBase, source unknown

Anyone who still uses Facebook has probably been dreading the official implementation of the redesign. Soon, you will have no choice but to use the clunky and slow look they have decided on. At first everyone was forgiving about the “new Facebook”, but after a few profile visits the honeymoon was over. It is a shame that a system that was working just fine for the folks who didn’t add every application known to man has to fall to the wayside.

The tab called “Boxes” is just a statement of indecision in itself. While it is understandable why the design has been setup a certain way, it is unclear why the implementation is going to be completed in September when only around 20% of the users have even tried the new look. It is likely that the developers would wait until there was a larger base of people familiar with the redesign if they were not in such a hurry to run the new ad system.

So…what do you think? Let us know in the comments….

Fake Follow Is Stupid

Fake Follow is the social media equivalent of being at a party, running into someone you sort of know, having empty conversation with them before awkwardly being offered their phone number. You write the number down on paper because you intentionally left the phone in the car, and dump your pockets later. Friends shouldn’t let friends “fake follow”. If you really could care less what someone has going on in their feed, don’t click the button. It actually takes more effort to think about “fake following” someone you do not want updates from. Be lazy. They will not cry over you not following them (unless they already need help)  and if you have enough people subscribing to you, they will probably realize you have notifications turned off. Advocating “fake follow” just makes you look arrogant, and possibly a bit distant from your readers. Is that the social part of social media/networking? I thought people who did the fake friend thing were on MySpace . Do you really want to be in the same category as Tila Tequila? Stupid “fake follow”. ——– Edit: Stupid spammer aiding “fake follow”.

WAR Is Good, WoW Is Better - 8.26.2008

So, I got around to playing in the Preview Weekend. I didn’t play much - no more than a total of 2.5 hours. I just didn’t have the time. In that time, I did basic beginning level PvE, Public Quests, Scenario RvR, and extremely limited RvR (my computer couldn’t handle it). From what I experienced, I came to the conclusion that WAR is a really good game, but WoW is better. Everyone seems to want to compare the two games, so I will do so as well. I realize that WAR is not yet complete - I mean, WAR is still in beta (okay, but yes, I guess it did go gold today) - and WoW is nearing it’s 4th year anniversary. I didn’t play for very long and even I was able to see that there is a lot missing in WAR. I know that WAR is not PvE centric, but I gotta tell ya, if Mythic doesn’t add a few more PvE elements into the game, it simply won’t be as successful as it could be. In my opinion, we are talking a possible 2 or 3 million subscribers if more solid PvE was introduced vs. 850,000 is the game stays the way it currently is. The people that want a solely PvP MMO are deinitely the minority - and then there’s the people that say they would love a solely PvP MMO before they go and finally play and run back to WoW like the carebears they are. It’s just not realistic right now. WAR at launch will NOT be AoC at launch. WAR is much more complete than AoC was at launch, but then again that’s not saying a whole lot considering AoC is one of the least “complete” games I’ve ever seen at launch. The reality is that even after the months of delays, WAR is not as far along as it should be. I hate to go back to it, but maybe if Mythic had decided to push WAR back to 2009 we would not only have a more polished game with better PvE, but also the 4 capital cities and classes that were removed. I’m not going to say that I completely regret pre-ordering the Collector’s Edition just yet. I’m going to see what happens. I’ll definitely subscribe for a month of WAR, and in that period I will make a decision - whether I will continue to play, or wait six months and come back. I really want WAR to be a sucess. Giving up after the first month of the game’s release is not an option for me. I’m not sure if I’m going to log into the open beta when Mythic opens that up on September 7th. We’ll see what happens. P.S. - The above picture is my rank 2 Warrior Priest exploring the zone. :D -Matt Graham

“The Grey People” Teaser Trailer 2

I was going to wait until I got my website back up and running (after a recent hack), but I thought, what the heck! Here is the second teaser trailer to my upcoming machinima starring Nathan Allen Pinard and Candace Holly.

This teaser trailer is mainly to bring to life some of my favorite screenshots - it doesn’t show much of the actual story - just a visual treat for everyone. You can leave me a comment at my thread here!

California Supreme Court Agrees - “You Can’t Have ‘The Doors’ Without Morrison”

Wired.com is reporting on a story that the California Supreme Court has ruled that Ray Manzarek (The Doors; keyboardist), Robby Krieger (The Doors; guitarist) and Ian Astbury (The Cult; vocalist) would not be able to call themselves “The Doors [of the 21st century]“  Quote from the article…

“You can’t call yourselves The Doors because you can’t have The Doors without Jim Morrison,” argued Densmore’s attorney S. Jerome Mandel, summing up the legal conclusion of the disagreement that has torn the already fragmented legend into further shreds.

Densmore’s rationale was simple: Jim wouldn’t have approved.
