GTA Taught 11 Year Old Girl To Save Her Family

A story has been posted on Kotaku about an 11 Year-Old girl who saved her family after their vehicle flipped over after an accident.  Apparently it was Grand Theft Auto that triggered her life saving actions.  The young girl’s mother, Karen Norris, was quoted as saying…

“She just knew, from playing ‘Grand Theft Auto.’ She saw on there that when a car rolls over, it can blow up. She knew that could happen to us”

Watchmen Getting FOXed

FOXed: A project which has been forced or is in the process of being forces to cease operations due to legal action or just because FOX is a bunch of <censored>, <censored> <censored>.

We have all seen it happen, starting as far back as the “Aliens” Total Conversion for the original Quake to as recent as the Firefly TV series.  Well, FOX is back to their old habits, as if that has ever changed.  The latest project to be hit by the FOX effect is the theatrical production of the cult-comic book classic, The Watchmen. Originally slated for release in March 2009, chances are that if FOX has their way, we may never see this film hit theaters, let alone released at all.

Topless Robot (AWESOME name for a website, btw) is reporting that FOX is putting on the pressure.  According to both Topless Robot and the New York Times

“Warner Bros. says that Fox “sat silently” as producer Lawrence Gordon took Watchmen ‘to studio after studio with Fox’s express knowledge’”

In addition to this, Topless Robot says that the studio has gone on record as saying that it wants to stop Warner’s release of the film and is asking for a June 2009 court date, 3 months AFTER Warner’s hopeful March 2009 release.

Sound off in the comments of this story with your thoughts on FOX’s latest actions.

Google Web Browser “Chrome” Released

Google chose the best time to release their new, Webkit-based web browser called “Chrome”: In the middle of TWiT.tv’s ‘MacBreak Weekly’.

I have only had a chance to download and install Chrome on my VMWare Windows Virtual Machine, and so far I am really happy with the speed, even under virtualization.

You can download Chrome here.  Currently only available for Windows.  A Mac and Linux client should be out within the month, I hope.

Veronica Belmont for President, 2008

It would appear that Veronica Belmont, co-host of Tekzilla on Revision3 has quite the fan-base pushing for her to run for president.

From belmont08.com,

Bowing to the constant politcal pressure on the Internet, Veronica Belmont declared freedom from the bickering stating, “I’ll stab my eye out with a fork!”. This was a clear call the likes of which have not been heard since the third delay of Spore.

Those in the know understood her words meant she would challenge the field for the Presidency of the United States in 2008. While Belmont is not above the minimum age of 35, she hopes to have a constitutional ammendment fast-tracked by November to allow her election to stand.

But what exactly are people saying about her policies and personality?

Bipartisanship
” She also wanted to buy a puppy, so she like dogs too! ”

Service
“Don’t forget her extensive CoD military career, and she spent quite a while fighting for the freedom of Azeroth from that evil Alliance.”

Experience
“Her extensive executive leadership in Buzztown, Mahalo-land and Tekzilla Nation are unparalelled.”

The biggest question on everyone’s mind, however, is who will Veronica pick as her VP.  I may be “playing favorites” here, but I think the image you will see after clicking the link below explains it all.

California Supreme Court Agrees – “You Can’t Have ‘The Doors’ Without Morrison”

Wired.com is reporting on a story that the California Supreme Court has ruled that Ray Manzarek (The Doors; keyboardist), Robby Krieger (The Doors; guitarist) and Ian Astbury (The Cult; vocalist) would not be able to call themselves “The Doors [of the 21st century]“  Quote from the article…

“You can’t call yourselves The Doors because you can’t have The Doors without Jim Morrison,” argued Densmore’s attorney S. Jerome Mandel, summing up the legal conclusion of the disagreement that has torn the already fragmented legend into further shreds.

Densmore’s rationale was simple: Jim wouldn’t have approved.

Review: Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along-Blog

Joss Whedon, best known for Firefly, Serenity, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV Series), does the geek world justice with the three part series Dr Horribles Sing-Along-Blog.  Combining comedy and drama with elements of geek, internet and comic book culture wrapped up in a musical candy-coating, Dr Horrible has to be one of the best productions I have seen since HBO’s Rome.  Click the following link to read the review.
