Steve Jobs to take a Leave of Absence from Apple

CNB got there first on this one, here’s the full story on Steve Jobs taking a leave of absence from Apple until June of this year.

Chief Executive Steve Jobs stunned shareholders and the tech world by announcing that he was taking a leave of absence until the end of June due to health reasons.

“During the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought,” Jobs said in an email to Apple employees.

This comes on the heels of Jobs not giving the keynote at the Macworld expo in California, and only a week earlier, it was revealed as to what his medical issue actually is.

The news came just a week after Jobs revealed that a hormone imbalance was at the root of weight loss that has prompted speculation about his health.

Will any luck, hopefully Jobs will recover speedily and continue to lead one of the most successful and popular tech companies to ever have existed.

FCC Chairman Alright with Porn

Just heard this over on Truemors, hopefully it’s the true part and not the rumor part. Apparently the FCC’s chairman, which is working on some form of free broadband, removed the requirement for a porn filter on the software. We’ll have more on this one as it developes.

Minigun in Left4Dead now Usable as Catapult

Don’t ask me how the hell the person that originally found this out thought it up, but it’s brilliant. Essentially you need to thwack at a minigun anywhere in Left4Dead, the more you hit the farther you go. Whenever you want to launch yourself, just hop on and go for a ride! Here’s a little video detailing this fun new trick.

Could the Wii be going to War?

Could the Wii see a major place in the battlefield of the future? The United States Army thinks so with this recent development in robotics technology. Here’s the report CNN put together on what could become of this gaming gone wartime tool.

As with any new technology, and with anyone who’s used the Wiimotes, they aren’t exact but they get the job done for gamers. The question that CNN raises is will they be accurate enough for the US Army to use with bomb detonating robots? A prototype should be ready in a year, and active service of the combat Wii-mote could be as early as three years from now.
