“The Grey People” Pre-Viz Clip and re-work

Poster“The Grey People” has been re-worked to be a web series to meet deadlines and to utilize every plot we have planned.

A LITTLE ABOUT THIS PRODUCTION
This project has consumed the last seven months of my life. I have been developing story and playing with mods to see what I can bring to the table. I want to blow all of my previous films out of the water with this potentially great concept that continues (in my mind) to build on itself.

As some may know, the film has seen bad times. The loss of the first edition pushed the released back almost six months. If everything had gone as planned with it, we would have already seen it. Nevertheless, everything happens for a reason and I have already learned so much more then I had ever imagined I would since then.

One of the things that is being incorporated into the film is the “depth of field” illusion that is missing from too many “the movies” films. Yes, it takes more time but it adds a more realism to the picture.

This chapter and the ones that follow will also be initially rendered in uncompressed High Definition picture and audio. Some may find this unnecessary, however, this is so we can have the highest quality picture for the DVD.

CHAPTER I: VOICE OF DESPAIR OVERVIEW
This first chapter is more or less the prologue to the story. It introduces our main character, yes, however, almost every character other then that becomes a mere thought as his adventure begins…which made it difficult to cast.

Nevertheless, we got some great auditions and some fantastic fans. The story starts sometime in the near future where a futuristic Howard Hughes named Chris Pathopen’s has become the leader distributor of new technology which has revolutionized how the world works. In his most ambitious project, he has designed the first ever fusion reactor which could power the world even if the sun itself died out. Nevertheless, its creation does not come without risk, for a band of terrorists have sworn they will stop at nothing to stop the reactor being activated due to its deadly risk of over-heating and reigning devastation upon humanity.

This first chapter will run about 15 minutes in length.

THE CAST (for Chapter I only)
Nathan Allen Pinard – Nick Stratum
J.L. Jeremiah – Captain Fuller
Faires Rivers (aka WX_IVAN) – Greg White
Pookashells – Dr. Chris Pathopens
Johnny Ex – Cal Johnson (TV News Anchor) / PC: Omega Computer A.I.
BenTuttle90 – Crew #2
D.L. Watson – Scientist / Crew 1
Melissa Haney – PSASS Commander / Police Announcer

RELEASE DATE
We are shooting for an early March release. This is so we can maximize our special effects and have a head start on the new chapter entitled “TOMB OF THE FORGOTTEN PAST”

HOW TO SHOW SUPPORT
Sending your comments and your thoughts on the productions are always helpful. You can also get the Moonlight Pictures newsletter which not gives you updates on The Grey People but also our live action films including the identity to our “mystery” short film and 2010 live-action web series “Logans Exodus” by signing up at the official web page at www.moonlightpictures.org.

PROGRESS SO FAR

I have spent pretty much all day re-modeling and animating the opening sequence. We just wanted to update our cargo-ship to match the description in the script more and so therefore, what was going to be a simple change of ship turned into a whole re-model of the entire CGI scene.

This is the pre-viz video:
http://www.moonlightpictures.org/hom…nk&id=23#josc5

And since it will render tonight to consume the 9 hour render, I will share a screenshot of what the final product will look like rendered in full-resolution. Click on it to see in high-res.

Tomorrow will be the same story, just a different scene. Its where the ship enters Earths atmosphere.

Enjoy!

New Year, New Who

So after all the chatter, we get a somewhat unknown as the 11th Doctor. People dance in the streets as the Robert Carlyle babbling finally dies down. This kid, Matt Smith, picks up the reigns after the specials. There seems to be some sort of trend lately with the increasingly awkward hair– and he fits the description. I suppose he is awkward overall making him a good fit.

Brand New Dr….. Who?

Dr. Who fans lamented when they heard the current Dr. Who wouldn’t be returning as the good doctor. It’s been a long wait but we’ve finally found out who the new Dr. Who is going to be. It’s deffinetly a “wait, who??” moment. A British born actor by the name of Matt Smith, who’s relatively unknown in the United States, has been announced as the new, and youngest, Dr. Who. Born in 1982, he beats out Dave Tennant by eleven years.

200 PS3s Crack SSL Certificate Hash

“What can 200 PS3s do?” sounds like the start of some bad joke, but an international team of security researchers were able to crack one of the algorithms used to certify the security of many internet websites.

A bug in MD5, the hashing algorithm used to create digital certificates for websites allowing them to prove they are who they say they are, was discovered using the cluster of gaming consoles. By taking advantage of the exploits within the algorithm, they were able to create false certificates for any website on the internet.

Wall Street Journal foresees problems for Playstation 3

Section: Gaming News, Consoles, PS3

ps3 news image
Citing a subpar holiday season and Sony’s Playstation 3 still being the most expensive console, an article in the Wall Street Journal this week indicates there is almost no way the PS3 can catch the Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii in sales. In early results, November 2008 sales of Sony’s controversial console were down 19 percent from the same period in 2007.

During that same time, the Nintendo Wii’s sales doubled and Microsoft Xbox 360 went up 8 percent according to stats supplied by research firm NPD. That makes Sony’s corporate goal of selling 10 million PS3s by March 2009 seem like a long shot. The article also notes that at $399, the PS3 is far and away the most expensive console on the market. During a global recession, that’s not a great distinction to have. It’s hurting Sony’s overall bottom line as the company’s electronics division isn’t as profitable as it used to be. Many analysts think that prevented Sony from slashing the PS3 price for this holiday season.

These numbers may surprise economists but probably not gamers.

Nintendo has ridden its newly harvested crop of casual gamers to the top of the industry with the Nintendo Wii. That console has become a huge hit in spite of a large percentage of shovelware and lack of any big titles released since Mario Kart in the spring. Hardware shortages made the Wii a tough find again this Christmas season, earning it a great deal of publicity in mainstream media. Microsoft Xbox 360 is becoming the console of choice for the hardcore gamer as exclusives like Gears of War 2 propel its holiday sales. The 360 cut its price to $199, earning it a solid hold on second place for the time being.

One of Sony’s major selling points touts the PS3 as an inexpensive Blu-Ray player but, with customers being slow to adopt that technology, regular Blu-Ray players have dipped to $200. There’s still a lot of this console war to go, but Sony does appear to have a climb comparable to the one its game hero Kratos undertook when he climbed Mount Olympus.

Software Issue With 30GB Zune Confirmed

An article up on neowin.net has confirmed for the public that the 30GB Zune MP3 player has a major software glitch, stemming from a recent software update and the new year. Many are calling this the “Z2K” bug, jokingly, althought it partially fits the problem. According to Microsoft, they’re working on a fix for the software issue and should have it out as soon as it’s tested and confirmed. Apple has released that they shouldn’t have any issues with the coming new year and their MP3 players. You can read the full story Here.

FCC Chairman Alright with Porn

Just heard this over on Truemors, hopefully it’s the true part and not the rumor part. Apparently the FCC’s chairman, which is working on some form of free broadband, removed the requirement for a porn filter on the software. We’ll have more on this one as it developes.
