It's all fun and games until the food goes bad.

Okay, I know we here at TGM tend not to get into any political topics mainly due to how angry they can make people, but this story I feel has it’s differences due to it being about the food and pharmaceuticals that we ingest.

As being reported on Red, Green and Blue, Congress passed a law six years ago where foods and drugs would need to have labels noting their country of origin.  Making items in this nature is not new, just look on the back of your iPod and you will see “Made in China” on it.  However, pressure from the food and drug industries appear to have “relaxed” this law and has made a large number of products exempt from these regulations.

Some of these bypassing products include food that is made up of a mixture of other products (fruit salads, dog food, etc).  Since the product is a mix of other products, it is exempt.  Aparently it is too difficult to keep track of exactly where each product within the mix came from.  Going along with this is if a retailer purchases meat or produce from multiple suppliers within the same, short timeframe: those products are exempt as well.  Again, since there is the potential for confusion in the book keeping it would appear that the law is relaxed in this case as opposed to stronger enforcement of the book keeping.
