Spore Space Stage

Both the Mac and Windows PC versions of Spore will receive an official expansion pack focused on enchaining and expanding the game’s Space stage next spring (2009), Electronic Arts revealed in a press release issued earlier this week (October 13, 2008).

Additional content will also arrive before the end of this year in the form of the Creepy & Cute Parts Pack, which is scheduled to launch worldwide on November 18, 2008. Pricing details have yet to be confirmed, but consumers can expected to find more than 100 new “creature-building components” in the Parts Pack.

As for the Space stage expansion, the aforementioned press release notes that it will allow players to beam down their custom creatures onto new planets, earning rewards for completing challenges in the process. The introduction of the “Adventure Creator” will also allow players to create and share their own custom missions.

The Parts Pack, on the other hand, will include a variety of new creature body parts, paint options, animations, backgrounds and other content, all split into — in case you haven’t already worked it out — two distinct categories: creepy (scary, monster-like) and cute (charming, cartoon-esque).
