Watchmen Getting FOXed

FOXed: A project which has been forced or is in the process of being forces to cease operations due to legal action or just because FOX is a bunch of <censored>, <censored> <censored>.

We have all seen it happen, starting as far back as the “Aliens” Total Conversion for the original Quake to as recent as the Firefly TV series.  Well, FOX is back to their old habits, as if that has ever changed.  The latest project to be hit by the FOX effect is the theatrical production of the cult-comic book classic, The Watchmen. Originally slated for release in March 2009, chances are that if FOX has their way, we may never see this film hit theaters, let alone released at all.

Topless Robot (AWESOME name for a website, btw) is reporting that FOX is putting on the pressure.  According to both Topless Robot and the New York Times

“Warner Bros. says that Fox “sat silently” as producer Lawrence Gordon took Watchmen ‘to studio after studio with Fox’s express knowledge’”

In addition to this, Topless Robot says that the studio has gone on record as saying that it wants to stop Warner’s release of the film and is asking for a June 2009 court date, 3 months AFTER Warner’s hopeful March 2009 release.
